One in a Million Award recipient: Ronald Rice

Where he’s multiplying good: Indianapolis, Indiana

How he’s multiplying good: He is One in a Million. Ron has served as a convener for members and residents in the Near Northwest area. His efforts were not hindered by COVID-19 logistics. In fact, he ramped up his efforts ensuring those most in need are provided food and assistance. He was able to set up collaborations between Flanner House, the local churches, the area schools, neighboring food pantries and local non-for-profit organizations like an alliance of church leaders (The Near Northwest Faith Partners) for a more impactful response. To help keep residents and volunteers from risking contamination, Ron helped facilitate a partnership with Indygo to assist with delivering the foodstuffs throughout the community and even beyond its borders. What was most important to him was that throughout the community, the residents and partners worked together for the common good and not just rely on the work of a single organization, thus promoting a more involved community response. All of this while still creating and maintaining relationships and initiatives to help improve the quality of life through education, Arts, Economic Improvement, Housing, and Safety for over 40k residents. He is always available with a huge smile, positive attitude and a servant heart. We are lucky to have Ron serving in our community.
